Depression
Children and adolescents suffering from depression may exhibit changes in sleeping and eating patterns. They may isolate themselves from friends and family, and they may opt out of activities that were previously a source of pleasure for them. They may become easily irritable and angry and/or very sad and teary. Children and adolescents with depression may talk of feeling a sense of hopelessness about their future, and they may talk about suicide. They may also engage in risk-taking behaviours and self-harm behaviours such as cutting. At the Clinic, we will address safety issues, work with your child to change the thought patterns contributing to the depression, and work with families to support their child through the depression.
