Anxious Temperament

Sometimes difficulties with anxiety do not fit into a specific category, or do not meet the criteria for a specific diagnosis. Perhaps your child is very shy, is slow to warm up, and/or has difficulties entering new situations. This can affect school and social functioning as well as overall family functioning.

Sometimes we also see children who become anxious when things do not go according to plans. These children often have difficulties with change and with the unexpected, and they sometimes become upset to a degree that is inconsistent with any actual triggering event. They may also be sensitive emotionally and sensorially. At our Clinic, we help children learn about their temperament characteristics, and help parents work with their children to learn how to better cope with their anxiety and behaviours.
