Autism Spectrum Disorder

Autism Spectrum Disorder, or ASD, is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects an individual’s ability to understand and develop social relationships and use verbal and non-verbal means of social communication in an effective way. Individuals with ASD may engage in repetitive motor movements and they may have stereotyped speech. They may also have difficulties with change, and they may have fixated interests. Many children with ASD also have differences in the way they process sensory input.

Other concerns for individuals with ASD may include: Attention and focus difficulties, language and/or learning disorders, intellectual disabilities, anxiety, behaviour challenges, sleep issues, seizure disorders, and gastrointestinal difficulties.

If you think your child may have ASD, we can help with a formal assessment. If your child and/or your family is struggling with any of the social, behavioural, or mental health aspects of ASD, we can help with individualized treatment.
